The Zenefit Story
The benefit of keeping care first.
Zenefit was started by three people from three different worlds: clinical care, engineering, and technology — who saw the same problem: getting the right equipment to the right person took far longer than it should.
So we set out to fix both ends of that problem: lighter, smarter equipment built with modern materials like carbon fibre, and faster, automated quoting and invoicing that gives clinicians their time back. All of it built the way we think this industry should work — keeping care first.
It started with a frustration
It started with a frustration every health provider knows too well: watching a client wait weeks for medical equipment that should have taken days, buried under paperwork that had nothing to do with care.
Three people, three angles
One of us spent years in clinics and homes, doing the assessments — measuring doorways, prescribing assistive technology, watching families navigate NDIS and aged care funding schemes that seemed designed to exhaust people at their most vulnerable moment. The clinical need was never the barrier to care; the system around it was.
One of us came from engineering, obsessed with the idea that assistive technology didn’t have to be heavy, clunky, or built like it was designed to remind someone of their limitations. Why should a wheelchair weigh what it weighs when carbon fibre has been quietly transforming aerospace and sport for decades — and that thinking still hasn’t reached the people who’d benefit from it most?
And one of us came from commerce and technology, watching brilliant clinicians lose hours every week to quotes, invoices and funding paperwork that a well-built system could handle in minutes — or equipment requests lost in countless phone calls, endless email trails and eye-watering call-back times. It was a problem the industry had simply accepted.
Three different trainings. Three different frustrations. One shared conclusion: the AT industry had quietly accepted that heavy equipment and heavy admin were just the cost of doing business. We didn’t think that was true.
Built bottom-up, not boardroom-down
Every decision starts with the person waiting for equipment, not the spreadsheet. That has meant building relationships one at a time — a nursing home that trusted us before we had a catalogue, a community that trusted us before we had a brand. We believe the AT industry’s biggest gap was never the products themselves; it was the body that separated the product from the person who needs it.
Our technology, on both ends of the business
Lighter, better-engineered equipment. We bring lightweight, carbon-fibre-informed design thinking into a category that has stayed heavy for too long. Independence shouldn’t come with unnecessary physical burden — not for the user, and not for the carer helping them.
Automated quoting and invoicing that gives clinicians their time back. We watched OTs and care coordinators spend hours on administration and chasing paper trails that should take minutes — mapping funding codes, formatting invoices for different plan managers, chasing claim deadlines before they lapse. So we built the system we wished existed: one that handles the compliance and admin correctly, quickly and transparently, so the humans in this industry can spend their time on the humans who need them.
What we refuse to do
We don’t sell grey imports without certification. We don’t list products we can’t service. And we don’t push the most expensive option when a simpler one does the job — a policy that costs us margin and earns us referrals.
What happens after you order
- A specialist calls to confirm sizing, availability and delivery address.
- We deliver and assemble the equipment at your home or clinic.
- You keep a direct line to our service centre for warranty, spares and repairs.
We’re not trying to be the biggest AT company in Australia. We’re trying to be the one that actually changed how it felt to need help — lighter equipment, faster answers, and a business that never forgot it started with three people who got tired of watching a good system fail good people.
ZENEFIT. Built from the ground up, for the people who need it most.

What customers say
“They did not just sell us a wheelchair — they measured my mother, explained the brakes to us and left their mobile number. Six months later they answered on the second ring when a castor broke.”
